Picture taking....

I hate saying goodbye...even when you're homesick. But today we leave GA to go back to NC. The weeks went by incredibly fast, too fast. This morning I couldn't wake up; I had stayed up too late the night before. Each morning, Nan gets up right away, being the cheerful person she is. I guess she decided I ought to be cheerful too so she came over and unplugged the air mattress and I remained where I was as it deflated underneath me. A couple days ago Lauren asked me if i wanted to take pictures of Ela. My face lit up and I said "of course!" So since it was dark outside we went upstairs to the nursery to take them. Nan got me a little lamp and I found myself a black sheet at Lauren's request. We tucked the black sheet over Ela's crib, and I placed the lamp in the different places I needed it. Ela started out sleepy but soon got irritable. She had been fed not too long ago but I guess she was still hungry...she really did belong in our family. So we had to take a break. Soon though, we got the pictures done, ordered prints, and showed them to the rest of the family. Ela's very photogenic, I think she'll be just like her mom. :) Just days before we left for Georgia, my friend Carey came over. She really wanted to do a shoot, (as well as I) so we came up together with a theme. We picked the 20's through the 30's. I guess it was the old fashioned phone on my bedside table that first gave Carey the thought. Then I began thinking of everything we owned, related to that era. I found mink, silk, short dresses, hats, jewelery, an old record player, shoes, old soda bottles, my great grandmother's hair dressing kit, as well as her yellow phone. We put it all together and made outfits and scenes. It turned out wonderful, both Nan and Carey did an excellent job.  The pictures turned out well, and it was so much fun to take them. I'm hoping to do more of these fashion decades, and I think I found another perfect two models for the job. Right now, I've just finished packing my things. It's going to be a long trip home...but I suppose that will give me a good opportunity to think about my next photo-shoot. :)

First post ever

Here in Kenasaw, Georgia not much goes on except school, cooking, cleaning, an air mattress, talking, laughing, eating, playing monopoly, three crazy dogs, and a new born baby! This past week and a half I have been having such a good time at Lauren and Jered's house with mom and Nan...oh and Ela! Gabriela Aylen Hull came home yesterday, late afternoon and has been having to adapt to her new surroundings with the pressure of three sweet but hyper doggies :) The dogs are very curious but have learned to keep their distance...sort of. Lauren has been taking it easy under ours and Jered's command. Ela has been such a sweetie minus the times when she's hungry, but that's normal in our family :) She sleeps so peacefully...especially when soft music is playing. During her pregnancy Lauren would wrap around her belly this belt type thing that had speakers on it...it was pretty cool, really. She plugged it into her ipod and let Ela listen to Jack Johnson, Norah Jones and other artists while she still hadn't entered into the world yet. I guess that's why whenever Ela listens to music playing she immediately shuts up and dozes off. It's pretty cute. Right now Lauren, Jered and Ela have gone to the doctor while mom and Nan run errands. I'm staying behind as always and finishing up on school...oh and writing in my blog too :p Gabe came to Georgia to help work on this church that needed repairs and to visit us. It didn't work out to visit though because he had to get to work back home. Disappointing but that's how life can be sometimes. I've found that I have a horrible habit of getting my hopes up! But I learned that everything happens for a reason too...even the little things :) Ela has the cutest yawn! Her eyes squeeze shut while her mouth stretches real wide then she forms her lips into a little O shape. It makes you wish you had your camera with you that instant to capture that kind of moment. Ela has many of those precious moments. After a week in the hospital we're all happy to be at the house and eating home cooking! Jered has his exams this week and tried hard to study in the time he had. He was so good by Lauren's side! It makes me want to have a husband who'll be like him :) Ela's birth had it's complications and time taken but it seems now that it all went by so fast! We're all just so happy Ela's here safe and healthy as can be :) I admit she is the most beautiful baby I have seen. And I'm not just being biased ;) Mom Nan and I have a whole week more to spend with Lauren, Ela and Jered :D I'll be so sad to leave! it's been such a great bonding time with them. God really has blessed me with such great family!
