Picture taking....

I hate saying goodbye...even when you're homesick. But today we leave GA to go back to NC. The weeks went by incredibly fast, too fast. This morning I couldn't wake up; I had stayed up too late the night before. Each morning, Nan gets up right away, being the cheerful person she is. I guess she decided I ought to be cheerful too so she came over and unplugged the air mattress and I remained where I was as it deflated underneath me. A couple days ago Lauren asked me if i wanted to take pictures of Ela. My face lit up and I said "of course!" So since it was dark outside we went upstairs to the nursery to take them. Nan got me a little lamp and I found myself a black sheet at Lauren's request. We tucked the black sheet over Ela's crib, and I placed the lamp in the different places I needed it. Ela started out sleepy but soon got irritable. She had been fed not too long ago but I guess she was still hungry...she really did belong in our family. So we had to take a break. Soon though, we got the pictures done, ordered prints, and showed them to the rest of the family. Ela's very photogenic, I think she'll be just like her mom. :) Just days before we left for Georgia, my friend Carey came over. She really wanted to do a shoot, (as well as I) so we came up together with a theme. We picked the 20's through the 30's. I guess it was the old fashioned phone on my bedside table that first gave Carey the thought. Then I began thinking of everything we owned, related to that era. I found mink, silk, short dresses, hats, jewelery, an old record player, shoes, old soda bottles, my great grandmother's hair dressing kit, as well as her yellow phone. We put it all together and made outfits and scenes. It turned out wonderful, both Nan and Carey did an excellent job.  The pictures turned out well, and it was so much fun to take them. I'm hoping to do more of these fashion decades, and I think I found another perfect two models for the job. Right now, I've just finished packing my things. It's going to be a long trip home...but I suppose that will give me a good opportunity to think about my next photo-shoot. :)
